SOUVENIR. USC

¿Sabía que la Universidad de Santiago, con más de 500 años de historia, es una de las más antiguas de Europa? Pues muchos de nuestros grandes pensadores y científicos se han formado bajo tan académicos techos. Incluso se creó durante la Guerra de la Independencia Española, un grupo de estudiantes que lucharon contra la invasión francesa (1808-1814). Se dieron en llamar el "Batallón Literario" y,  sobre sus uniformes, portaban una cinta en la que iba bordada: "Por rescatar a Fernando (VII) y acabar con Bonaparte unióse Minerva a Marte". Por si acaso el poder de la pluma fallaba. Cinco siglos después le proponemos luchar contra el sedentarismo y las arterias saturadas llevando una sudadera de la USC. Un bonito recuerdo para llevarse de vuelta y lucir los dos días del año en que  se da la vuelta al barrio a paso rápido. Ya se sabe "Men sana in Córpore sano" y qué mejor manera de unir estas dos premisas que hacer ejercicio ataviados con una prenda universitaria.

Did you know that the University of Santiago, with more than 500 years of history, is one of the oldest in Europe? Many of our greatest intellectuals and scientists where taught under such academic roofs. There was even a group of students that created a military troupe during the Spanish War of Independence against French invasion (1808-1814). They used to be called the 'Literary Battalion', and, over their uniforms they carried a ribbon that said "To rescue Fernando (VII) and put an end to Bonaparte Minerva joined Mars". Just in case the quill would fail. Five centuries after that, we propose that you do the same thing  fighting against sedentary life and saturated arteries by wearing a sweatshirt from the University of Santiago. A nice souvenir to wear twice a year when you take that fast step walk around the neighbourhood. As the Latin proverb goes "Men sana in corpore sano" and what better way to join this two premises than to exercise with a college sweater on.
